Marilou Watson of Fox Rothschild Selected as 2010 Gallery of Success Award Recipient by Temple University’s Pharmacy SchoolAugust 30, 2010 – Press Releases
Marilou E. Watson, a partner in the Blue Bell office of Fox Rothschild LLP, has been selected by the Temple University School of Pharmacy as the 2010 recipient of its Gallery of Success Award.
The Gallery of Success is a collaborative effort between the University’s Career Center and Office of Alumni Relations. The Gallery was established to inspire students and honor Temple University alumni for their accomplishments. Each of Temple's 17 schools and colleges honors an alum every fall, and the names of all Gallery recipients are on permanent display.
Watson's photo and bio information will be showcased in the lower level of Mitten Hall on the campus of Temple University for one year, and her distinction will also be publicized on the university's web page and the school's 2010-11 annual report. Additionally, she will be honored at a luncheon during Homecoming Weekend on Friday, October 15.
In her legal practice, Watson represents clients in all aspects of intellectual property law, with particular emphasis on foreign and domestic patent prosecution; client counseling; infringement analysis; patent invalidity and freedom to operate assessments and Hatch-Waxman issues related to ANDA filings; and licensing, due diligence and divestiture matters in the chemical and pharmaceutical arts.
Watson, a 1991 graduate of Temple University School of Pharmacy, has been a registered pharmacist in Pennsylvania for nearly 20 years with a focus on advanced pharmaceutical technology. She has a wide variety of technical experience within the pharmaceutical industry, including bio-pharmaceutical research and development involving pharmacokinetic drug preformulation of proprietary compounds. Her pharmaceutical technical support experience involved technical analysis of numerous pharmaceutical products, devising project protocols and lab scale formulations of various drug products and excipients including product validation, stability and sterility studies.
In 2009, Watson was appointed by Governor Edward G. Rendell to serve on the Pennsylvania Early Childhood Investment Commission. Members of the commission -- approximately 50 business executives from across the state -- act as ambassadors for early education. The commission also hosts an annual economic summit, bringing nationally recognized experts in early education, workforce development and economics to Harrisburg. Watson also serves as an advisory member of Explore STEM Philly, which is a project originating from the PA STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) Initiative and administered by the Philadelphia Math & Science Coalition to promote STEM education to students in the Philadelphia public school system.
Watson is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), Montgomery County Bar Association and the Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association (PIPLA). She has served as vice chair of AIPLA’s Diversity Committee and as chair of PIPLA’s Diversity Committee. She is also a member of the Villanova Law School Minority Alumni Society, where she has served as an Advisory Board Member and president.
Watson earned her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law in 1994 and, in addition to her B.S. in Pharmacy from Temple University, also earned a B.A. in Biology in 1987 from Temple University’s School of Arts and Sciences.
