Marilou Watson Receives Temple School of Pharmacy Sprowls Lecture Award

Marilou E. Watson, partner with Fox Rothschild LLP, has received the prestigious 2014 Sprowls Lecture Award.

The annual award, presented under the auspices of the Temple University Pharmacy Alumni Association and the School of Pharmacy, celebrates an individual who has achieved recognition in pharmacy for significant contributions to the profession.

As this year’s honoree, Watson had the opportunity to speak about the path that she took to start her career as a patent attorney and how Temple’s pharmacy program helped her to achieve her goals.

A graduate of Temple University’s School of Pharmacy, Watson currently sits on their Board of Visitors and was previously honored with the Temple University Pharmacy School’s Gallery of Success Award in 2010. A registered pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Watson also served as the 2013 commencement speaker for Temple’s Pharmacy School.

Watson has been a registered pharmacist since 1991 with a focus on advanced pharmaceutical technology. She has a wide variety of technical experience within the pharmaceutical industry that includes bio-pharmaceutical research and development involving pharmacokinetic drug preformulation of proprietary compounds.

In her practice at Fox, Watson focuses on all aspects of intellectual property law with an emphasis on foreign and domestic patent prosecution, client counseling, infringement analysis, patent invalidity and freedom to operate studies and Hatch-Waxman issues related to ANDA filings, licensing, due diligence and divestiture matters in the chemical and pharmaceutical arts.

Additionally, Watson serves as co-chair of the firm's Diversity Committee, where she assists in spearheading initiatives that promote firm-wide diversity and inclusiveness.
