Mark McCreary Earns Prestigious Certification From International Association of Privacy ProfessionalsMarch 18, 2016 – Press Releases
Further solidifying the firm’s commitment to protecting the confidential and personal information of its clients and employees, Fox Rothschild LLP Chief Privacy Officer Mark G. McCreary has earned the International Association of Privacy Professionals’ (IAPP) coveted CIPP certification.
The Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification was launched in 2004 as the first professional accreditation offered in information privacy. The highly recognized distinction signifies extensive knowledge of privacy laws and regulations and a foundational understanding of:
- Jurisdictional laws, regulations and enforcement models or rules and standards
- Essential privacy concepts and principles
- Legal requirements for handling and transferring data
McCreary focuses his practice on compliance with privacy-related laws, rules and regulations (domestic and international), as well as responses in the event of a data breach. Because of the incredibly wide range of applicable regulations, McCreary understands that advising on privacy-related issues is not an area of law that should be practiced “on the side” and diligently stays up-to-date on this ever-changing field. He spearheads the firm’s privacy policies (both intra-company and for customers), handles privacy issues under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and related requirements for the privacy of consumer financial information (including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)), prepares data security plans and assists with data breach responses and notifications.
In addition to his role as Chief Privacy Officer, McCreary is co-chair of the firm’s Technology Practice and serves as the firm’s Corporate Administrative Partner in Philadelphia. He also serves as the firm's Hiring Partner and is a member of the Firm’s Finance Committee.
