NJ BPU Panel Rethinking Clean Energy Program Subsidies

In its first report, the Clean Energy Funding Work Group said energy surcharges could be minimized by moving control of energy programs to outside contractors.

Steve Goldenberg, chair of the group, said its time to try something new because "multiple and overlapping layers of authority that are part of the current program structure lead to inefficiencies and added costs."

A single program administrator hired in a competitive process is likely to improve program effectiveness and reduce costs, Goldenberg said.
