The New Jersey Supreme Court has handed down a decision that will force the state to revamp its affordable housing rules and should spur more residential development to accommodate low income individuals.

The majority did not offer clear guidance on the constitutional principles of the Legislature however, which could prevent lawmakers from acting or spark further litigation if they do pass a new law, according to Henry Kent-Smith, who said the omission was “frustrating and troubling.”
