Carolyn Richmond was mentioned for her part in a four-person panel discussion at the 4th Annual National HR in Hospital Conference and Expo in Las Vegas, on employment law challenges.
The panel, moderated by David Sherwyn, associate professor of law at Cornell's School of Hotel Administration, included Ilene Berman of Taylor English Duma in Atlanta; Gregg A. Gilman of Davis and Gilbert in New York; Carolyn Richmond; and Paul A. Wagner of Stokes Roberts & Wagner in Ithaca, N.Y.
When training managers about sexual-harassment issues, Richmond said, be sure to mention there is the potential of personal liability in those state and local -- but not federal -- jurisdictions. When a manager knows he or she can be personally named as a defendant in a lawsuit, "that changes behavior. ... I think scaring people really helps change behavior."
