Pennsylvania Bar Association Names Mark Ashton Family Law Section Chair

Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Mark R. Ashton will become chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Family Law Section, effective July 17.

In this role, Ashton will develop and work with state laws relating to marriage, divorce, nonsupport and domestic relations and adoption.

A long-time officer in the PBA Family Law Section, Ashton helped to organize and later served as president of the Doris J. Freed American Inn of Court, a group of 60 attorneys in the Philadelphia area concentrating in family law.

Ashton has taught more than 60 courses on domestic relations practice for the PBA and its affiliate Institute and has written extensively on topics including the tax aspects of family law agreements, litigation of child custody disputes, valuation of closely held businesses and executive stock option plans. He has argued more than 50 cases before the Superior and Supreme Courts of Pennsylvania.

Ashton is the former editor and a regular contributor to the firm’s Pennsylvania Family Law Blog, which provides readers with information on and insight into Pennsylvania family law issues such as divorce, equitable distribution, alimony, child support, spousal support, alimony pendente lite and custody.

Ashton earned his J.D. from John Marshall Law School and his B.A. from George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs.
