Pittsburgh Business Times Honors Fox Rothschild Among the Healthiest Employers in Western PennsylvaniaJune 22, 2011 – Press Releases
Fox Rothschild LLP is featured as one of the Healthiest Employers in Western Pennsylvania in the June 17, 2011 edition of the Pittsburgh Business Times for its “Fox Fit & Well” initiative aimed at improving employee health and wellness.
The Business Times writes that Fox Rothschild’s program is unique because it “offers a broad range of activities so as many people as possible can be included, a centralized and decentralized structure involving both firmwide and local activities and close partnerships.” Fox Fit & Well helps partners and staff to stay healthy and reduce overall health care costs through awareness and educational programs that promote preventive and chronic care management. The program allows participants to set specific wellness goals, develop steps to achieve those goals and track progress through simple online access.
Among Fox Fit & Well’s components, as noted in the newspaper, are an annual $250 staff incentive reward to employees, monthly programs focused on diabetes, cancer and nutrition awareness, company-funded biometric screenings, lunch and learns on health-related topics; partnerships with the American Heart Association and others on a range of walking programs; and partnerships with Aetna and Highmark Blue Cross to reinforce program goal, wellness and system capabilities; and surveys of staff and attorneys to get their input on existing programs and future ideas.
The Business Times recognizes Fox Fit & Well initiatives such as “What’s the Buzz About Yoga,” a firmwide yoga awareness seminar; “Destination: You,” a walking program through GlobalFit that combines activity tracking, education and motivation to help employees increase their activity levels using a digital pedometer, and also setting virtual destination goals to increase motivation. “Fox Rothschild has had great success with its ‘Destination: You’ walking program,” said the newspaper. “Since rolling out the program in March, its Pittsburgh office has logged 8,495,568 steps.”
“We are thrilled that our efforts have been acknowledged because it exemplifies the firm’s dedication to the health of our employees in Pittsburgh and nationally,” said Jay D. Marinstein, managing partner of the firm’s Pittsburgh office.
Fox Rothschild was chosen for this first annual award based on surveys distributed by Pittsburgh Business Times and Health Employer LLC to employees of both public and private companies in the region. Companies were separated into categories based on the number of employees, and Fox Rothschild was recognized in the category of employers with between 500 and 1,499 employees. The winners were honored at a luncheon at the Sheraton Station Square on June 16, 2011.
This is the second consecutive year in which Fox Rothschild has been recognized for promoting a healthy workplace. In 2010, the firm received the Philadelphia Business Journal/United Healthcare Healthy Workplace Award: 1st Prize Gold Winner - Best of Show, in the large company category.
