Fox Rothschild LLP Litigation Partner, Ronald J. Shaffer, was recently elected chair of the SeniorLAW Center’s Board of Directors.
“We are delighted to have Ron as chair,” said Karen Buck, the Center’s executive director. “Ron’s demonstrated leadership skills in the legal community and his commitment to SeniorLAW Center will strengthen our capacity to fulfill our mission of improving the lives of older Pennsylvanians through legal representation, education and advocacy, which is especially critical now, as the elders of our region and nation increase in number and in need.”
SeniorLAW Center provides a wide range of services, including direct legal representation through its staff attorneys and pro bono volunteers, a state-wide Helpline, community outreach and education, referrals and advocacy for long-term systemic solutions. The Center focuses on the most critical needs of elders, including protection from abuse and exploitation, staying in their homes and communities, economic security, health care planning and enabling grandparents to raise grandchildren.
Prior to being elected to chair, Shaffer served on the Board of Directors for several years as a member, Secretary and Vice Chair.
Shaffer has lent his advocacy skills to helping seniors through his dedicated pro bono work with SeniorLAW Center. Fox Rothschild has been a consistent supporter of SeniorLAW Center and a corporate sponsor of its annual gala called the “Senior PROM.” Many Fox Rothschild attorneys have served as SeniorLAW Center volunteers, helping to save homes and strengthen intergenerational families.
A veteran litigator, Ron has represented clients in state and federal courts across the country and is former chair of Fox Rothschild’s national litigation practice. Shaffer handles a broad range of commercial litigation matters, including various types of intellectual property disputes, trade secrets, securities, class actions as well as corporate and shareholder disputes.
Shaffer is a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations. He earned his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law in 1980 and his B.A. from Pennsylvania State University in 1976.
