At an impromptu town hall meeting Wednesday night, more than 50 residents of 770 Sandy St. were told they lived in a structurally unsound and hazardous building and must vacate in two weeks. Residents and municipal authorities were outraged at the large number of building code violations prompting Municipal Manager David R. Forrest to file a lawsuit against complex owner, Bruce Fazio.
Brett Berman, attorney for eight owners of units of the building, asked several questions of the municipal administrators.
"Why were there C.O.s (certificate of occupancies) issued? Who was the building inspector at the time? Were there periodic inspections done of the building? These questions don’t require a great deal of knowledge to answer."
