Saucon Valley Teachers Authorize StrikeApril 15, 2015 – In The News
Jeffrey Sultanik was featured in The Morning Call article, “Saucon Valley Teachers Authorize Strike.” Full text can be found in the April 15, 2015, issue, but a synopsis is noted below.
After the contract impasse that has extended almost four years, teachers turned down the board’s most recent proposal. Since the teachers did not have sufficient time to review the most recent one, the proposal reverted back to the last one from October 2014.
In fact, the teachers of Saucon Valley voted to authorize a strike, which was approved easily by the Saucon Valley Education Association.
District labor attorney, Jeffrey Sultanik believes that the negotiation process should be based on the board’s proposal made in last October. "When we come back to the bargaining table with the state mediator, it's going to be the board's position that the union needs to be bargaining from the Oct. 8, 2014, proposal if they want to have any basis for progress,” he stated.
Later, he added, “I do not see a resolution in the near future, that's my concern.”
