Schwarzenegger v. Video Software Dealers AssociationApril 27, 2010 – In The News
Scott Vernick was interviewed regarding the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision to accept the review of the constitutionality of a California law that sought to ban the sale of violent videogames to minors. California had appealed two lower courts decisions that effectively struck down the law as a restriction on the freedom of speech. The state argued the restriction of violent video game sales, is the same as the restriction of the sale of sexual materials to minors. In opposition, two trade organizations said the video games were a form of artistic expression, and therefore protected by the First Amendment.
