Todd A. Rodriguez, co-chair Fox Rothschild LLP’s Health Law Practice, will speak at the American Health Lawyers Association’s “Physicians and Physician Organizations Law Institute,” which will be held on February 9-10, 2009, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Rodriguez and co-presenter David DeSimone, General Counsel of Atlanticare Health System, will speak on “Hospital-Physician Employment Arrangements in 2009: Reluctant Partners or Aligned Allies” on Tuesday, February 10. The discussion will include the re-emergence of the hospital-physician employment model, market changes, how the needs of the parties differ and how success can be achieved through aligned incentives. The pair will also focus on strategies to prepare for life after employment and determining appropriate candidates for traditional employment arrangements and at what point alternative arrangements should be considered.

He has extensive experience representing physicians in all aspects of medical practice including practice mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiation and drafting, and consulting on operational and business planning issues.

Rodriguez also maintains a blog that provides updates on new legislation and legal issues relating to practice management, billing and coding, ancillary services, malpractice insurance, fraud and abuse developments and other important legal issues affecting physicians in their personal and professional lives. His blog can be viewed at http://physicianlaw.foxrothschild.com.

Sessions at the Physicians Law Institute will provide a focused analysis of the legal challenges faced by physicians and their counsel.
