The Western District of Pennsylvania is taking part in a patent pilot program that is designed to enhance judges’ expertise in patent litigation. The goal of the program is to increase the number of patent cases tried in the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Jim Singer, a Partner and Patent Attorney at Fox Rothschild LLP, spoke to the Pittsburgh Business Times about the program. “If we do create a court here from a patent owner’s perspective, where you know you’ll be able to go from filing to a decision, say, in 18 months, that’s a very quick and that’s going to bring more litigation into Pittsburgh,” Singer said.
