The Morning Call

Marcel Groen, chief negotiator for New Jersey-based Delta Thermo Energy, commented on Allentown's pending decision to turn their trash into an energy plant.

Groen said the pending project is like a steady contract.

"You're going to give the trash to someone. You're going to get rid of sludge to someone. You're going to get rid of those things over the long haul," Groen said. "What you're getting is a 35-year contract disposing of a service that has to be paid for anyway."

Groen, a political supporter of the mayor, has been one of the architects of the pending deal between the city and Delta Thermo.

"I want you to do whatever you can do to make an intelligent decision," Groen said, "or circumstances around this deal start changing."
