Wendy Rothstein of Fox Rothschild LLP Brings Liberty and Law into Norristown Middle Schools

October 5, 2010 – Press Releases

Wendy Rothstein, partner in the Blue Bell office of Fox Rothschild LLP, is one of 15 attorneys who will partner with 15 judges to present six sessions on liberty and the law to middle school students in the Norristown Area School District.

Rothstein, along with Judge James Gallagher will present to a sixth grade classroom at Stewart Middle School. The sessions, facilitated by the Montgomery County Bar Association, will take place in September, October and November of 2010 and March, April and May of 2011.

To peak the students’ interest in law on the first visit to the schools, the team of lawyers and judges asked the students to think of 10 things they would rather be doing at the moment and then show how each of those is related to law. Subsequent fall sessions will teach students how the law is everywhere by focusing on such topics as rights and the role of the citizen. In the spring, students will learn about the role of the judge and the appeal process by participating in mini-mock trials. The final session in May will showcase law-related career opportunities to students and will feature interactive sessions and presentations.

One of the top litigators in Montgomery County, Rothstein is widely known and respected in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas, having worked in the courthouse prior to law school and spending her entire legal career there since 1982. Rothstein served as chair of the firm’s Montgomery County Litigation Department from 1996 through 2008.

Rothstein’s diverse litigation practice includes commercial and business litigation; alternative dispute resolution including commercial arbitrations and mediation; employment litigation involving restrictive covenants, trade secrets, fiduciary duties, defending employers targeted by employment discrimination lawsuit and defending wage and hour lawsuits; and real estate, tax assessment and land use and zoning litigation. As co-chair of Fox Rothschild’s Tax Appeals Group, Rothstein has represented both taxpayers and school districts throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in tax assessment litigation matters involving shopping centers, industrial facilities, office buildings, large residential properties and more.

Rothstein is a member of the Pennsylvania and Montgomery County Bar Associations and serves on the Bench Bar, Judiciary and Civil Rules Committees of the Montgomery County Bar Association. She has served as a Court appointed Discovery Master since 2001. She earned her J.D. from the University of Baltimore in 1982 and her B.S. from Temple University in 1978, graduating cum laude from both.
