Women’s Initiative at Fox Rothschild Celebrating Success of Inaugural Campaign to Honor and Empower Women

May 25, 2010 – Press Releases

The Women’s Initiative of Fox Rothschild LLP is celebrating the success of its inaugural initiative to honor and empower women – a months-long campaign of fundraising efforts in its offices nationally to benefit charitable groups that provide assistance to women in need.

Aimed at raising awareness of the good works of these organizations and furthering the firm’s commitment to its communities, the campaign has generated monetary donations and, in some instances, contributions of gently used professional attire ranging from suits and separates to shoes and scarves to organizations stretching from California to New York.

“Women of all walks of life face challenges, and we are honored to be able to support this impressive array of committed organizations that dedicate themselves to easing the burdens that women encounter on their paths to success,” said Linda J. Mack and Lauren P. McKenna, co-chairs of The Women's Initiative at Fox Rothschild.

Female attorneys throughout the national network of Fox Rothschild’s 15 offices are collaborating with local organizations to support and celebrate women while helping to elevate the profile of the organizations’ missions in their respective communities. While the events vary in nature and have included cocktail receptions, wine tastings and dessert receptions, each raised proceeds or collected donations of clothing and other items to directly support the organization’s outreach and support efforts. The events have been attended by firm clients and others within the community.

The events held so far have included:

  • A reception in Philadelphia on April 22 to support The Career Wardrobe, the nation's largest community-based nonprofit dedicated to assisting women in their transition to work by providing professional clothing, personal development seminars and necessary support. Guests at the evening’s event donated generous amounts of gently used professional attire for use by The Career Wardrobe in its mission.
  • A reception held at Greenacres County Club in Princeton on March 17 to celebrate the work of HomeFront, a nonprofit agency that provides comprehensive services to the disadvantaged in Mercer County. HomeFront's mission is to help troubled families break from the cycle of poverty. Its programs offer emergency shelter, educational and employment support to help meet the immediate and long-term needs of indigent families. Fox Rothschild donated $1000 to HomeFront at the reception, and guests supported HomeFront through generous donations of clothing, toiletries and other items as well as monetary donations.
  • A shopping and cocktails event on March 11 to benefit A Miner Miracle in San Francisco. The evening was held at A Miner Miracle SHOP, a unique destination boutique where every dollar spent was donated directly to support the organization, which provides professional clothing and image counseling to low-income individuals to help them enter the workforce successfully.
  • A reception held March 11 at Upstairs 2 in Los Angeles celebrating the Downtown Women’s Center, which provides resources to homeless women to help them reconnect with their sense of self and reclaim their goals and dreams. Nationally recognized as a prototype for programs to meet the unique needs of homeless women, the Downtown Women’s Center has provided permanent supportive housing and a safe and healthy community fostering dignity, respect and personal stability for women for more than 20 years. Guests provided monetary donations and donations of women's toiletries, individually wrapped snacks and gift cards for food vendors.
  • A wine tasting and dessert reception on March 10 in the firm’s New York office to celebrate the mission of Bottomless Closet, a New York City nonprofit that empowers disadvantaged women to become self-sufficient through a comprehensive program. The evening featured wines from exclusively women-owned or women-managed wineries. Guests donated generous amounts of gently used professional attire to Bottomless Closet at the event.
  • A reception with The Community Youth & Women’s Alliance (CYWA) in Chester County, PA, on March 3 to raise awareness of and support for the CYWA Work Ready Program, which assists women in need with obtaining and maintaining employment within the community. Guests at the event donated a substantial amount of clothing, shoes, accessories and gift cards for the CYWA.
  • A reception held on February 18 in the firm’s office in Bucks County, PA, to support the Village Improvement Association, the only nationally recognized women's organization to currently own and operate a hospital (Doylestown Hospital). The reception was a celebration of the past and present of women in Bucks County and was attended by various CEOs, presidents and other officers of area businesses. A sizeable donation of $3,000 was made by guests to the Women's Scholarship Committee of the Village Improvement Association, which provides financial support for women in need of education or training to transition to the workforce. The firm matched contributions made by guests during the evening.

Upcoming events include:

  • A reception in the firm’s office in Roseland, NJ, on June 23 to support Dress for Success. The evening will feature professional organizer, Linda Anders, who will offer helpful tips for time management and organizing space – including closet space. Guests are encouraged to clean out their closets ahead of time and bring gently used professional attire such as business suits, jackets, dresses, separates, shoes, scarves and other accessories, which will be collected to support Dress for Success’ cause.
