Singer was elected to a three-year term on the board of WQED Multimedia at its quarterly meeting held on October 25 at Temple Rodef Shalom. The organization hopes to invite a new look and new tactics for discovering fiscal revenue streams in this fiscal year.

Recently, the station found success in increased revenue through the introduction of a digital television channel – WQED Showcase – which bought $30,000 more than projected in donations.

WQED will also be receiving a grant of unspecified amount from the Heinz Endowments to complement a previously announced funding from The National Endowment for Humanities, bolstering the creation of the documentary, “August Wilson: The Ground on Which I stand.” The 90-minute documentary will explore the life of Wilson, a Pittsburgh native and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright.
