Fox Rothschild Pledges Hurricane Sandy Relief
November 26, 2012
To assist in relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Fox Rothschild LLP is contributing to a number of organizations providing recovery assistance to affected individuals and businesses in New York and New Jersey.
With three offices in New Jersey and one in Manhattan, Fox has strong personal and professional ties to the communities impacted by Hurricane Sandy. Among the organizations that employees in the firm’s Atlantic City, New York, Princeton and Roseland offices have identified for firm donations:
- Catholic Charities Diocese of Trenton
- Jersey Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross
- Jewish Family Services of Atlantic and Cape May County
- Ocean City New Jersey (OCNJ) CARE
- Tunnel to Towers
- United Way Sandy Recovery Fund
“We remain committed to the communities in which we live and work, and feel a responsibility to assist those who have been gravely impacted by the storm,” said Mark Silow, firmwide managing partner.
In addition to the donations, many of the firm’s 17 nationwide offices are engaged in relief efforts as well. Fox’s office in Exton, PA, hosted a blood drive with the American Red Cross and collected monetary contributions as well as household and personal items for hurricane victims in New York.
In the firm’s Princeton office, staff members are collecting donations, including food, for Mercer Street Friends, which is dedicated to families who have suffered hardships as a direct result of Hurricane Sandy. In addition, many attorneys and staff have donated their time as well as necessities to local organizations assisting victims.
Staff members in all locations are being encouraged to make personal contributions to relief organizations. The firm has also extended insurance-related assistance to Fox employees grappling with losses suffered in the storm.
Carolyn Richmond, a partner in the firm’s New York office and co-chair of Fox’s Hospitality Practice, has been especially instrumental in relief efforts aimed at hospitality businesses in Manhattan. Richmond participated in a NYC Hospitality Alliance program for Sandy-impacted companies and hit the pavement with other NYCHA volunteers to hand-deliver resource packets to struggling restaurants across the city.
Fox has also established a Disaster Recovery Group — www.foxrothschild.com/hurricanesandyrecovery — to assist clients and contacts in navigating the labyrinth of resources, asset protection best practices and loss mitigation strategies. The interdisciplinary team offers guidance in the areas of insurance, tax, labor and employment, construction, government contracts and litigation.
While maintaining a national presence, Fox Rothschild prides itself in a strong sense of community throughout its network of 17 offices. In addition to attorneys and staff devoting time and resources to organizations throughout the year, the firm provides substantial financial support annually to more than 500 service providers that help better lives, enhance communities and enrich the overall quality of life locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. The firm also has a broad-based pro bono program that includes legal services at no cost for individuals who need assistance as well as services to various religious organizations, community groups, non-profit associations, social welfare, and human resources organizations.
