January 23, 2013

Julia Swain, partner in the Family Law Practice of Fox Rothschild LLP, was recently appointed Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Bench Bar Committee for 2013 by the Association's Chancellor.

As Co-Chair, Swain will work on planning the annual Bench-Bar Conference – the premier networking event for members of the Philadelphia legal community that features continued learning courses and notable guest speakers.

In her practice, Swain represents clients in all aspects of family law including divorce, custody, support, equitable distribution and abuse. She litigates family law cases in the five-county Philadelphia area, including appellate courts and negotiates settlements and prenuptial agreements.

Swain is a frequent writer and speaker on family law issues and serves as Associate Editor for the Philadelphia Bar Reporter, the monthly newspaper of the Philadelphia Bar Association.  Swain recently presented a national webinar on prenuptial agreements for later-in-life marriages and served on a PBI panel presentation regarding the developing paternity law in Pennsylvania.

Swain served as the 2011 Chair of the Philadelphia Family Law Section, during which time she also served as a voting member of the Bar Association’s Board of Governors and Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention. Swain received the Pro Bono Roll of Honor award from the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania (2009 through 2011), recognizing her pro bono work as exemplary. In 2009, she was the recipient of the White Hat Award from the Legal Clinic for the Disabled for her outstanding volunteer work.
