Phila. Firms in Running to Represent Harrisburg in Bankruptcy

Fox Rothschild is one of the two Philadelphia law firms among five finalists being considered to represent the city of Harrisburg in bankruptcy proceedings. According to Mark Silow, the firm’s team includes bankruptcy lawyer Michael Viscount, Jr., government relations lawyer Marcel Groen, public finance lawyer Alan Wohlstetter and litigator William Stassen. Silow expects Harrisburg officials to make a decision within the next week and said the decision could include a combination of firms.

“This is a complicated matter and somewhat novel,” said Silow. “I can’t remember a city of this size formally filing for bankruptcy.” Councilman Brad Koplinski expects that the funds for the potential legal team will come from the city’s 2011 budget or state assistance.
