U.S. Rep. Patrick J. Murphy has joined Fox Rothschild as a partner in its litigation practice. The first Iraq war veteran elected to Congress, Murphy was the author and chief sponsor of the bill repealing the Defense Department’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy concerning gay soldiers. Peter Tucci served as his finance chair for his last two re-election campaigns.

Administrative partner Mark Silow said Murphy’s time in the military and the House Armed Services Committee will be helpful in the firm’s new Washington office, where the firm’s clients largely revolve around the defense industry.

Murphy, 37, said he would like to focus on practicing law rather than lobbying. When asked about his long-term future, Murphy said, “I am committed to public service and that is not over. But I am really excited about joining Fox Rothschild and spending more time with my family.”
