As U.S. colleges and universities educate some of the world’s “best and brightest,” they produce highly desirable foreign-born professional workers who often have the unique skill, education, experience and drive that employers want and need.

This article is a brief overview of a common pathway that “tees a worker up” for U.S. permanent residence (i.e., a “green-card”): F-1 Student Status/OPT, H-1B Temporary Worker visa, and on to an immigrant visa petition.
