Fox Rothschild recently acquired the Chan Law Group along with the group's existing downtown Los Angeles office. With the acquisition, the firm picked up name partner Thomas T. Chan, counsel Lisa A. Karczewski and associate Steven S. Hanagami.
Mark Silow said the firm has grown its intellectual property group from one lawyer to nearly 40 lawyers positioned at various locations throughout the country. Expanding Fox's Los Angeles presence to include a downtown office will also make it easier to assist clients. "A large portion of our client base is downtown or toward the eastern side in the valley of Los Angeles," said Silow.
Another benefit of the acquisition is that Chan brings a Chinese business clientele looking for legal representation in the United States, allowing the firm to expand its client base in Asia.
Chan said he was looking to expand his boutique to match the needs of his clients, but incapable of doing so, was unable to keep up with the legal work. At Fox Rothschild, he said, that will no longer be a problem.
