Expanding its Washington, DC presence, Fox Rothschild has added eight construction and government contracting attorneys from construction law boutique Smith Currie and Hancock. In addition, Fox hasacquired the Washington office of Smith Currie and will relocate its existing DC location to the newly acquired office space.
Mark Silow said the new attorneys spend between two thirds and three quarters of their time on construction-related work including claims work, construction disputes and construction defect litigation. They focus on representing large construction contractors in matters across the country on projects including government buildings, prisons, dams, roads and power plants.
"We think its a good practice for us because we already have a construction litigation practice, but this really catapults us onto a national level with more clients, larger clients, larger projects," said Silow. "And it seems to be somewhat recession proof in that it alternates between the private sector and government-financed projects."
Joining as partners are Dirk D. Haire, who has been named a co-chair of the firm's construction practice, Reginald M. Jones, who will serve as chairman of the newly formed government contracts and procurement practice, and Larry D. Harris. Douglas P. Hibshman, Sean Milani-nia, Jessica V. Perro, Alexa A. Santora and Farah A. Shah will join as associates.
