Fox Rothschild’s Chester County Office Recognized as LEED Certified
Eco-Friendly Building Receives Dual Citations From Green Building Council
November 26, 2007
Exton, PA – Fox Rothschild LLP’s Chester County office has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in both the Commercial Interiors (CI) and Core and Shell (CS) categories.
The 37,000 square foot building, 747 Constitution Drive in Exton, Pennsylvania, was finished in November 2006. It is the result of a collaboration between Fox Rothschild, Re:Vision Architecture and The Hankin Group, who developed the property.
“As long-standing tenants of the Hankin Group, we wanted to work with them to help Fox Rothschild create new office space in the Chester County region,” said Michael S. Harrington, office managing partner. “We knew we wanted a green building, and Hankin also had begun to think about a green project. It was a perfect solution for both of us, and a great project to be involved with. We’re delighted to know that the ‘green’ design features of 747 Constitution Drive have been recognized.”
The building was created using 22 percent recycled materials, and 78 percent of the construction waste generated by the development was recycled. More than $620,000 of building materials was purchased from within a 500 mile radius of the building. Interior features include water-saving bathroom facilities and other energy-efficient systems, including Energy Star brand computers and office machines.
Fox Rothschild, whose offices occupy 33,000 square feet of the building, selected the interior wall and floor coverings, which are designed to keep toxin release at a low level. The firm currently has 35 lawyers resident in its Chester County office and has aggressive growth plans that anticipate more than 50 lawyers resident in that office in the next 24 months.
About LEED Certification
Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, the LEED Green Building Rating SystemTM encourages adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
