2011 Protest Statistics Show Low Sustain Rates, Offer Better Chances of Voluntary Corrective Action

According to Government Accountability Office (GAO) statistics released in March, the number of federal bid protests rose slightly in fiscal year 2011, but the percentage of sustained protests decreased from the previous year.

In FY 2011, 2,353 bid protests were filed, up two percent from FY 2010. However, this is less of an increase from the 16 percent rise reported in FY 2010 from the previous year and the 20 percent increase from FY 2008.
