California has one of the highest minimum wage rates in the country. On January 1, 2018, that rate increases to $10.50 for employers with 25 or fewer employees, and $11.00 for all other employers. The state’s minimum wage will continue to rise each year until it reaches $15 for all employers in 2022.
Employers are subject to even higher minimum wage rates in 22 California cities, including recent newcomers Belmont, Berkeley, Milpitas and San Leandro. Many local rates will increase on January 1, 2018.
