In this article, Whitehill discusses the dramatic changes in immigration compliance – including the new I-9 form to verify or re-verify the employment authorization and the identity of every new employee. He also touches on the government’s attempts to eliminate social security mismatches, including the government’s electronic verification system, E-Verify, which links the employer to the DHS and SSA databases to verify that a person is eligible to work as represented. Finally, Whitehill talks about no-match letters and workplace raids.
