Fox Rothschild LLP congratulates Carolyn D. Richmond, recipient of the 2019 Groat Alumni Award from Cornell University’s ILR School.
The award recognizes Richmond, an alumna of Cornell, for her commitment to the university and her contributions to the labor relations and human resource management industries.
The Groat Alumni Award is a tribute to Judge William B. Groat (1899-1986), who served as counsel to the New York State Joint Legislative Committee on Industrial and Labor Relations, where he played a pivotal role in founding the ILR School and drafting its charter. Established in 1971, the award honors Judge Groat's vision and his professional accomplishments, which culminated in his appointment as justice of the New York State Supreme Court, Eleventh Judicial District.
As Chair of Fox’s Hospitality Practice Group and former co-chair of the Labor & Employment Department, Richmond primarily represents and counsels employers in the hospitality industry, including hotels, restaurants and nightlife operators. A prominent legal figure in New York’s restaurant and hospitality industry, she is considered an authority on a variety of employment topics, including wage and hour laws and discrimination, and is a sought-after author and speaker for legal conferences and industry events. She also serves as labor counsel to the New York City Hospitality Alliance.
Richmond is a dedicated leader at her alma mater, serving on the Cornell University Council, Dean’s Advisory Council and Alumni Board for the Cornell’s ILR School, the Advisory Board for the Cornell Institute for Hospitality Labor and Employment Relations, and the President’s Council of Cornell Women.
She earned her J.D. from New York Law School and her B.S. from Cornell University.
Richmond will be recognized at an awards ceremony scheduled for April 2019.
