What would you do if an Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent visited your company to inspect your I-9 Employment Verification records? We know that over the past several years, ICE has stepped up its interior enforcement efforts in an attempt to reduce the number of unauthorized workers in the United States and as a deterrent to those who employ unauthorized workers.

This session will provide an overview based on direct experience of what happens during an ICE audit and criminal investigation, giving HR personnel information about what to expect and how to respond. The session will also cover the potential penalties, both criminal and civil, to which employers may be subject after an I-9 inspection and for which individual employees may be subject to incarceration.

Finally, “I-9 Best Practices” information will be provided so that HR personnel can help their companies and personnel to minimize and avoid I-9 penalties.
