Combining skills in all those areas, he concentrates his practice on representing clients in complex business, financial, employment, real estate and land use litigation and appeals. In addition, Colin represents energy and utility companies, developers, builders, property owners and local governments in land use, permitting and municipal law matters. He regularly appears in state and federal court, as well as before city councils, planning commissions, boards of adjustment and appellate courts related to site plans, subdivisions, annexations, text amendments, code interpretations, rezonings and special use permits.

Land Use and Zoning
As part of the firm's Zoning & Land Use Group, Colin has represented clients on real estate, development and construction, environmental law and municipal and regulatory law. Energy and Utilities
Representing clients in the energy and utilities arenas, Colin assists in achieving successful financing, commercial, real estate and land use permitting on projects for his clients. He recently prevailed on behalf of client FLS Energy in the Court of Appeals of North Carolina, securing a conditional use permit to construct a solar farm after the permit had been denied by the Robeson County Commissioners, and the denial upheld in Superior Court: Innovative Solar 55 LLC v. Robeson County, 801 S.E.2d 671 (N.C. Ct. App. 2017).
