David Snyder Wins $1.25 Million Verdict in Eminent Domain Suit Against York City RDA

July 22, 2016 – Press Releases

Fox Rothschild LLP Partner David B. Snyder secured a $1.25 million jury verdict in an eminent domain dispute against the York City Redevelopment Authority.

In a four-day jury trial before the York County Court of Common Pleas, Snyder argued that the fair market value for the property in question, the old York County Prison, was far greater than the $65,000 the RDA claimed it was worth.

After less than 30 minutes of deliberation, the jury returned a unanimous verdict, awarding the full amount requested by Snyder and his clients.

“This is a great victory for my clients,” said Snyder. “We were not asking for anything more than what was rightfully owed and what they would have received on the open market. We are thrilled that the jury reached this conclusion.”

Co-chair of the firm’s Eminent Domain and Real Estate Valuation practice groups, Snyder concentrates his practice on eminent domain, real estate tax appeals and real estate valuation litigation. He has handled cases involving real estate and real estate valuation in state and federal courts and before arbitral forums across the country. Additionally, he maintains Fox’s Eminent Domain and Real Estate Valuation blog, which provides updates and commentary regarding eminent domain and real estate-related litigation.
