Environmental Federal & State Agency Activity Under Quarantine

May 14, 2020
Pennsylvania Bar Institute

2:00 - 3:00 pm EST

As the pandemic continues, federal and state environmental agencies have not been immune to the effects of the crisis, and they, like private sector businesses, are still acclimating as they try to balance safety needs with their statutory and regulatory responsibilities amidst statewide closures.

Join PBI and leading agency counsel for a moderated “town hall” style program that first provides a brief summary of the state of affairs at the US EPA and PA DEP and then transitions to an extended question and answer segment.

It’s a statewide shutdown but not for the government.

US EPA Regional Counsel, Cecil Rodrigues, and PA DEP Chief Counsel, Alexandra Chiaruttini, will discuss:

  • US EPA COVID-19 Enforcement and Compliance Assurance Program
  • US EPA Interim Guidance, Health and Safety at Cleanup Sites During the COVID-19 Pandemic
  • PA DEP temporary suspension request process
  • PFAS
  • The state of inspections
  • Negotiations
  • Filing of complaints
  • Judicial practice
  • Force majeure clauses
  • Flexibility with penalties during business closures
  • Electronic signatures
  • Operating paperless

That’s just the first half.

Send your questions in to [email protected] before the webinar and have them answered by the panel during an extended Q&A segment that follows the overviews. They also welcome questions on emerging case law.
