Non-Physician Practitioners Scope of Practice…A Tale of Parallel Dimensions

November 11, 2013
Fox Rothschild

Noon to 1 p.m. ET

The Affordable Care Act will vastly expand health care services to those who were previously uninsured. The increasing volume of patients could cause an overflow, leaving too few physicians to offer care and necessitating the use of Non-Physician Providers (NPPs), such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Join William H. Maruca and William J. Mazzocco Jr., for this educational webinar that will address three significant separate, yet interrelated, issues in the attempt to expand the utilization of NPPs:

  1. Legislative scope of practice – What the federal and state governments dictate that NPPs can do
  2. Insurance scope of practice – What insurers will pay for under applicable fraud and abuse guidelines
  3. Hospital scope of practice – What hospitals will permit NPPs to do

Our speakers will highlight why these scopes of practice are not currently in alignment, where they vary and what the inherent risks are in "pushing the envelope" among the three areas.
