Overcoming Unconscious Bias: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
1 Hotel Road
Newark, NJ 07114
Virtually everyone has an unconscious bias in one form or another. These can be based on gender, race, sexuality, intellect, financial standings, job title, funding and more. It has been more than half a century since the Equal Pay Act passed, but women still face wage disparities in just about every workplace. The recent success of the Women’s National Soccer team, who are embroiled in a legal fight with the U.S. Soccer Federation over unequal pay, has brought new attention to this issue.
Panelists will have the opportunity to shine the light on this very important issue. They will be able to address topics such as:
- Why collectively, women still make some 20% less than men; it’s even lower for women of color
- How transparency is one of the most powerful weapons against pay disparity
- The Impact consumers have as we have seen several large sponsors join soccer’s fight over equal pay
- The connection between unconscious bias and unequal pay
This panel will discuss the steps we can take to reduce the chances that our decisions are influenced by human bias and explore when you may be unfairly victimized and how to protect yourself.
