There are various provisions in the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 aimed at providing relief to struggling multiemployer pension funds.

The Act will provide an estimated $86 billion in financial assistance to approximately 140 plans to protect their solvency and restore benefits previously reduced, as well as provide tools to plans struggling to navigate the financial stress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Join James Matthews III and Michael McNally for a review of the multiemployer pension plan provisions in the Act and their effect on contributing employers.

This webinar will cover:

  • Conditions on receiving assistance
  • Extensions of funding improvement/rehabilitation plan periods
  • Ability to retain prior year’s zone status
  • Impact on contributing employers
  • Collective bargaining considerations for employers that participate in an impacted plan
