The Arbitration Panel Process: Mystery and Secrecy Exposed
Carl Anthony Maio of Fox Rothschild Speaks at Advanced Litigation Strategies Forum
Carl Anthony Maio, a partner with Fox Rothschild LLP and chair of the firm’s Corporate Insurance Department and Insurance Practice, recently served as both a presenter and moderator on behalf of the International Association of Defense Counsel’s 2007 Forum on Advanced Litigation Strategies. The forum was held in New York City, New York, on November 30, 2007.
Maio assembled and produced a program entitled: “The Arbitration Panel Process: Mystery and Secrecy Exposed.” The program was designed to unmask the secrecy of the arbitration process with the objective being to observe the unfolding of a deliberative process resulting in the decision making, leading to a reasoned award and judgment rendered by a Panel of Arbitrators. The Panel included experienced arbitration members from ARIAS, JAMS, and AAA. It specifically dealt with a complex set of facts related to the reinsurance industry. Reinsurers recognize that binding arbitration is and can be high risk and costly to participants. The objective of the program presented by Maio was to de-mystify the reinsurance arbitration labyrinth.
Maio has 35 years experience in the business, financial, and legal aspects of the insurance industry. He focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, demutualizations and conversions, public and private transactions, licensure, formation of companies, insolvency, business insurance, reinsurance and more.
