The Legal State of Collegiate Athletics: Update on Recent Case and Legislative Developments
In May, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court ruling that certain NCAA rules violated antitrust law by limiting compensation for student-athletes for a wide range of benefits that the court determined were related to education, and prohibiting the NCAA from limiting payment of those expenses for student athletes within athletic scholarships.
