Gena advises clients on a wide range of employment issues, including compliance with federal and state anti-discrimination and harassment laws, WISHA/OSHA wage/hour compliance, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the National Labor Relations Act, unfair competition and trade secrets laws. Gena finds practical, business- oriented solutions to meet her clients’ needs. She conducts workplace investigations, drafts and reviews employment policies and other employment-related documents, and provides human resources related training to employers and supervisors.

As a litigator, Gena represents clients in disputes involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, workplace health and safety, and other employment law issues in state and federal court, as well as before administrative agencies. Her litigation experience also includes representing clients in alternative dispute resolution forums, such as mediation.

Before Fox Rothschild

Prior to joining Fox Rothschild, Gena was a principal at Riddell Williams, where she served on the Hiring Committee and on the Women Attorneys group.

While in law school, she served as managing editor for The Seattle Journal for Social Justice, president of the Labor and Employment Law Association and a teaching assistant for Civil Procedure. She also served as a legal intern for two divisions of the Washington State Attorney General’s Office, volunteered at the Northwest Immigrants’ Rights Project and was actively involved in numerous law student associations.

Prior to her legal career, Gena worked in human resources at the Seattle office of an international biotechnology company.

During college, Gena spent a year abroad in Montpellier, France.

Beyond Fox Rothschild

Gena chairs the King County Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Section. She also serves on the planning committee for the annual Pacific Coast Labor and Employment Law Conference and has served on the statewide Board of Washington Women Lawyers.

Gena regularly volunteers and participates in various local fundraising events benefiting organizations such as Cares of Washington, Farestart and Jubilee Womens Center. She also mentors law students.

Gena is also an adjunct professor at Seattle University.
