Fox Rothschild Supports PLAN’s MLK Summer Internship & Fellowship ProgramOctober 12, 2007
Philadelphia, PA – Fox Rothschild LLP is proud to support the Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network, Inc.’s "Martin Luther King, Jr. Summer Internship and Fellowship Program," which is celebrating its 15th Anniversary this year.
"Diversity across the legal profession is a need that all law firms should recognize and support," said Greg Williams, chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee and office managing partner of Fox’s Wilmington office. "Fox is pleased and proud to offer our support to the Fellowship Program, and help the Legal Aid Network achieve its goal of raising $100,000 over each of the next two years to help guarantee that these needed fellowships can be offered in the future.
"We know we are asking a lot of firms like Fox Rothschild, whose generosity to public service, legal aid and pro bono is respected and admired across the state," said Sam Milkes, PLAN’s Executive Director. "We are asking them to be totally selfless, helping us to hire attorneys who to help the poor with their critical legal problems in remote areas of the state. It is a true testament to Fox Rothschild’s commitment to the legal profession, and to Pennsylvania, that they have so enthusiastically gone this extra mile to help ensure justice for all."
The Internship, which has been in place for 15 years, places first and second year minority law students in legal aid offices around the state. The Fellowship Program was recently added to fund two-year full-time positions in legal aid programs. Through the fellowship program, PLAN contributes half of the wages for two years to two minority attorneys hired as full-time legal aid staff.
Fox joins a host of leading law firms and corporations from across the state to have pledged $5,000 toward the program in 2007 and an additional $5,000 toward the program next year.
