Five Fox IP Attorneys Ranked in IAM Patent 1000June 26, 2019 – Press Releases
For the fourth consecutive year, attorneys in Fox Rothschild’s Intellectual Property Department are featured in the “IAM Patent 1000,” an annual ranking by Intellectual Asset Management magazine that identifies the top patent practitioners in key jurisdictions around the globe.
The IAM Patent 1000 guide is compiled through extensive research and interviews with attorneys and in-house counsel around the world.
Fox’s Intellectual Property Department, comprised of more than 100 professionals nationwide, includes more than a dozen who hold doctoral degrees in the sciences and engineering, as well as former U.S. Patent and Trademark Office examiners, former university and industry researchers and former in-house attorneys and corporate engineers.
Fox IP Department Chair James M. Singer (Pittsburgh) is highlighted in the guide as “a repository of trust for a myriad of high-profile innovators” and is noted for “communicating his advice in crystal-clear and concise language.”
Also featured in the guide are D. William Kaufman (Minneapolis), Gerard P. Norton, Ph.D. (Princeton) Janet M. MacLeod, Ph.D. (New York) and Deborah A. Somerville (New York).
Kaufman, who has closed more than 280 venture capital transactions throughout his career, is cited for advocating “strongly for his clients while focusing on getting deals done.”
MacLeod is noted for having a “knack for getting to the heart of a complicated biotech invention” and providing “candid and pragmatic advice” to her clients.
As former Chair of the firm’s IP Department and IP Litigation Group and current Managing Partner of Fox’s Princeton office, Norton is featured for spearheading the “superior all-round services” that the firm offers in New Jersey and serving as a “crucial member” of the nationwide team.
A skilled patent attorney with many years of experience, Somerville is a “percipient counselor” to her clients when it comes to matters of IP due diligence.
The Fox IP team handles the complete range of patent law matters, including domestic and foreign patent prosecution, corporate due diligence, counseling and opinions regarding patent invalidity and noninfringement. In 2018 alone, the team of more than 50 registered patent attorneys and agents secured nearly 900 patents worldwide, including more than 500 in the United States.
