Marilyn has more than 25 years of experience practicing in family law.

She has advised and represented clients in the full range of family law-related matters, including:

  • child custody
  • child support
  • domestic relations
  • equitable distribution
  • premarital agreements
  • post-marital agreements
  • spousal support

Marilyn is also experienced in handling matters of international family law under the Hague Convention's Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.

Marilyn has been recognized by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for her work in the protection of children. She has worked for more than 20 years in helping parents whose children have been abducted to and from the United States, England, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.

Before Fox Rothschild

Marilyn was a partner at Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP, which combined with Fox Rothschild in 2018.

Beyond Fox Rothschild

Marilyn is the past Chairperson of the International Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association, in which she helped create the international lawyer exchange between the Association and other participating countries. In this capacity, she was a delegate for the inaugural lawyer exchange with Taiwan.

Marilyn has been a volunteer judge and trainer of students for Teen Court and a volunteer presenter for the court-mandated class for custody matters for more than 20 years.
