Gmail’s New Domain Authentication Latest Pushback Against Phishing

Google recently changed its interface so recipients of email can see the authentication results in their screen. An important development for email security, many say it is the next step in email authentication.

Although the change in interface can be confusing for some, the goal to reduce spam and phishing makes this new technology innovative and helpful, especially since data breaches have seemed to reach an all-time high in the last six months.

"There is genuine value in having an email associated with a certain company," said Mark McCreary. "To know that Bob is a Tivo customer creates a verifiable connection between the owner of that email address and the criminal sending a phishing email to that person."
