Scott L. Vernick was quoted in the CBS Philly article, “Can Kathleen Kane Be Top Prosecutor in Pa. Without Law License?” Full text can be found in the September 21, 2015, issue, but a synopsis is below.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court unanimously ruled that Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s law license should be suspended, a decision Scott Vernick finds “curious” since Kane has only been indicted and not convicted.

According to Vernick, a noted privacy attorney, the Supreme Court is “handcuffing the ability of the Attorney General to do her job.”

“Even though she is the chief executive of the attorney general’s office and has responsibilities that are non-legal in nature, as a practical matter, it’s difficult to separate the two,” he said.

Vernick noted the Justices “left her in place but gutted much of what she does.”
