Expanding the firm’s services in Raleigh, Fox Rothschild is pleased to welcome Michelle D. Connell and Wesley P. Gelb as partners in the Family Law Practice Group.
“Michelle and Wes bring a wealth of experience handling complex family law matters in North Carolina,” said Matthew Nis Leerberg, the firm’s Raleigh office managing partner. “They are well-known throughout the state for helping professional clients and others with significant marital estates or complex family law issues, providing clients with innovative, comprehensive solutions at both the trial and appellate levels. Their energy and enthusiasm mesh perfectly with the dynamic and entrepreneurial culture of our Raleigh office, as we continue to add talent to deepen our bench and broaden the range of services we offer here in the Triangle.”
Connell, a Board Certified Specialist in the areas of both Family Law and Appellate Law, represents clients in the full range of family law matters: alimony; child custody and child support; civil domestic violence; equitable distribution; prenuptial and separation agreements; and alienation of affections and criminal conversation. Clients often seek out Connell for her extensive appellate experience, even in cases where she was not trial counsel. Connell handles appeals before the Supreme Court of North Carolina and the North Carolina Court of Appeals and, over the past two decades, has presented written and oral arguments and prepared petitions for extraordinary writs in dozens of cases involving family law and contract issues.
Connell is a fellow and president-elect of the North Carolina Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. She is the former chair of the Appellate Rules Committee and serves on the Appellate Specialization Committee for the North Carolina State Bar. She earned her J.D. from Wake Forest University and her B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Gelb also represents individuals facing the full range of family law matters, including custody, support and property distribution issues. Also a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law, he is often sought out for his experience in matters involving complex valuation issues and by those seeking advice on premarital and postmarital agreements, working closely with clients to identify and develop strategies to meet their goals.
He earned his J.D. from Wake Forest University and his B.A., cum laude, from North Carolina State University.
Connell and Gelb were previously with Wyrick Robbins Yates & Ponton LLP.
