Fox’s Steven S. Goldenberg Named a Leading New Jersey Energy Policy Influencer

March 3, 2015 – Press Releases

Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to announce that Steven S. Goldenberg, co-chair of the firm’s Energy and Public Utilities Practice Group , was named to NJ Spotlight’s list of “10 Movers and Shakers Who Influence Energy Policy in New Jersey,” for refining and reworking energy policy in the state.

Goldenberg is highlighted in the prestigious list along with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Senator Bob Smith, Senate President Stephen Sweeney and Richard S. Mroz, President of the NJ Board of Public Utilities, among others.

The only lawyer in private practice named to the highly respected list, Goldenberg was recognized for his representation and founding of the New Jersey Large Energy Users Coalition, as well as for serving on Governor Christie’s transition team and a special task force charged with helping develop the state’s Energy Master Plan.

NJ Spotlight notes that “Goldenberg’s views carry a lot of weight among policymakers seeking to reduce the state’s energy costs and make it more competitive, a goal that has yet to be achieved.” Goldenberg was also highlighted for being an advocate of legislation to promote energy efficiency to reduce those costs.

Goldenberg concentrates his practice in public utility law, with a particular emphasis on energy regulatory matters. He has played a lead role in all matters of consequence convened by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities since 1996, including the restructuring of the state’s electric and natural gas industries from a monopoly to a competitive model, utility rate cases, utility merger proceedings, energy infrastructure issues, regulatory proceedings, and the formulation and implementation of the state’s energy policies.

Goldenberg served a seven-year tenure as Special Counsel to the Board of Public Utilities and Department of Environmental Protection and Energy and is actively involved in the development and implementation of the state’s energy policies. Along with the New Jersey Large Energy Users Coalition, Goldenberg also founded and represents the New Jersey Combined Heat and Power and Distributed Generation Coalition, which is comprised of cogeneration and fuel cell developers, engineering firms, financial institutions and manufacturers.
