Fox Entertainment Attorneys Share Insight into Evolving Music Industry at New Music Seminar

July 11, 2013 – Press Releases

Tim Mandelbaum, Monika Tashman and Michael Reinert recently brought their knowledge and insight to the New Music Seminar – an annual gathering of new artists, executives and industry leaders dedicated to furthering the business of music.

Exemplifying their experience in the music industry, the trailblazing attorneys lead the following discussions:

  • “The New Music Publishing Model – How Are Rights Being Administered?”
  • “The New Deal – Exploring Alternatives to the Traditional New Artist
    Record Agreement”
  • “Building the 100 Billion Dollar Music Business: New Ways To Monetize Music in
    the Market Place”

In addition to the panels they presented, they also hosted an exclusive closed-door session, "The Creator and the Copyright Act," which discussed legal issues that arise when art lies not in a document or piece of content, not in a book or record, but in what others have done with that asset and to work through a new approach that both incentivizes the new crop of casual creators while continuing to protect traditional artists and art.

Mandelbaum, Tashman and Reinert focus their practices in the areas of music recording, artists, television and film talent as well as digital media companies. Mandelbaum and Tashman have been in private practice for several years after serving stints in the entertainment industry while Reinert joins Fox from his position as Executive Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs for the Universal Motown Republic Group.
