Alka Bahal and Heather R. Boshak, attorneys in Roseland office of Fox Rothschild LLP, were honored as two of New Jersey’s 2011 Best 50 Women in Business by NJBIZ.
Bahal and Boshak were selected by an independent panel of judges for the outstanding contributions they have each made to the state of New Jersey, both in their industry and community.
As co-chair of the firm’s Corporate Immigration Practice Group, Bahal has extensive experience in corporate immigration and employer compliance issues, including IRCA, I-9s, Social Security mismatch issues visas and permanent residence applications (i.e., green cards), representing immigration clients across the United States and at Consulates worldwide. In the course of her career, Bahal has represented a wide variety of clients, from Fortune 500 clients to small, privately held corporations to health care and nonprofit organizations across the country.
Active in her community, Bahal led the charge for the Essex County Bar Association’s “Backpack and School Supply Drive” for underprivileged children in New Jersey by heading the team that supplied more backpacks and school supplies than any other single entity in the state. Bahal earned her J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 1995 and her B.A. from Marquette University in 1992.
As a Partner in the Labor & Employment Practice Group, Boshak represents employers throughout the United States in federal and state courts and in various administrative tribunals in cases alleging sexual harassment, race, national origin, gender, disability and age discrimination, breach of contract, violations of public policy and tort claims. She also handles traditional labor matters including labor arbitrations and NLRB proceedings and regularly counsels employers on compliance with various state and federal employment laws and regulations.
Among her community activities, Boshak is vice president of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association and a former board member of the Lawyers with Children Association. For the past 10 years, Boshak has participated in the George Washington Bridge Challenge Walk benefiting the American Cancer Society. Boshak received her J.D. from Tulane University School of Law and her B.A. from Brandeis University.
