Enhancing the firm’s already robust White-Collar Compliance & Defense and Tax Controversy practices, Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to welcome Ian M. Comisky and Matthew D. Lee to the Philadelphia office.

Comisky, former co-chair of the white-collar group at Blank Rome, brings more than 35 years of experience in civil and criminal tax litigation, white-collar criminal defense and complex corporate and commercial litigation. Comisky is the co-author of the acclaimed Tax Fraud and Evasion treatise and serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, teaching a course on money laundering.
Lee is a former U.S. Department of Justice trial attorney who concentrates his practice on all aspects of white-collar criminal defense, federal tax controversies, financial institution regulatory compliance and complex civil litigation.

Comisky represents corporations and individuals in tax controversy work, including IRS administrative and grand jury investigations; corporate compliance matters relating to the Bank Secrecy Act and USA Patriot Act; issues involving FATCA for financial institutions; commercial litigation focusing on directors’ and officers’ defense, accounting and legal malpractice cases; and corporate internal investigations for financial institutions and other entities, including allegations under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. At Fox, Comisky will head the firm’s international compliance team.
Lee represents companies and individuals in federal grand jury investigations and criminal prosecutions in a wide variety of areas, including tax, money laundering, health care, securities, public corruption, FCPA and fraud offenses. He also represents taxpayers in all stages of proceedings before the Internal Revenue Service and in litigation in the U.S. Tax Court and other federal courts. Lee advises financial institutions as to compliance issues involving the Bank Secrecy Act, the USA Patriot Act, the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, the anti-money laundering laws and regulations and economic sanctions.
Fox’s White-Collar Compliance & Criminal Defense Practice is comprised of more than 25 professionals across the country who are focused on corporate compliance, internal investigations and criminal defense services.
